Earthquakes

Earthquakes are one of the most frightening and newsworthy acts of nature, affecting all parts of our planet in devastating ways. For many, Haiti's current earthquake disaster recalls the fear that Californians felt in 1989 when buildings collapsed and a double-decker highway fell upon its lower deck. The library has many newspaper databases for patrons to choose from; one of the most interesting is the ProQuest Historical Newspapers: The New York Times (1851 - 2006). You can even read first-hand accounts about the 1906 Great San Francisco Earthquake.
